What ideas of helping infantry to deal with archers do you like?

Jump with bows, Shield durability and free shield points imo.

1: jump with bows - I found with small bows and long bows jumping with them drawn even when standing still gives you a massive advantage, because any approaching infantry, if you jump and shoot you shoot right over the shield and headshot.

2: Shield durability - shields break too often imo, and if your playing a shielder it sucks if your shield dies after about 3 hits from a 2h axe

3: free shield points - just means that 2h and polearms can carry a shield and not just be screwed if the other team has like 5 archers. Still difficult for them but at least they have a fighting chance then.

The 1-2 free shield skill idea could be really good since you wouldnt need to invest so much skill points to using shields.

It would nerf specialized shielder even more.

I'm not a fan of free shield points either. It would make the previous implementation of 0-skill shields useless for everyone except few (ranged, really), and it would remove the only real disadvantage of 2h and polearm classes, that being lack of proper shield without spending skillpoints, which would buff 2handers even more, fucking shielders even more.

I like how you, out of all people, are calling them out for that.

 

 

In my opinion archery is more or less fine, if you were to remove the shooting/drawing your bow while jumping it would be a lot better though. I certainly wouldn't mind increasing the weight of quivers either or requiring a perk to have two quivers. Increasing the durability of shields would be a minor change considering so few people even use shields but I voted for it regardless.

ATTENTION EVERYBODY....

 

When Warem proved that archery needs nerfing...I decided to joi his club and become an archer....

 

A long story short....now that I play extensively as archer, I am not looking forward to the nerfs (as infantry i am excited, as archer i am dissapoint)

 

So....my farmer archer char, is known for being the quickest archer build, so increasing the weight of arows will slow me down affecting my playstyle overall and forcing me to change the way i play (lel rekt..gf tho)

 

And no shooting when jumping will affect me too, as I wont be able to manouvre and outsmart opponents at close range by jumping out of harms way while shooting...so again i will have to change the playstyle

 

 

My point is...the nerfs homer has suggested will help infantry deal with archers...and it will make some archers cry...if it is too sucky to play as archer wit hthe nerfs, I will just go back to pitchfork....gf tho ueghueghueg

If you can't play archer after the "nerf" (if you can call such small changes nerfs) than you should never have started playing archer in the first place.

Point was to lessen the amount of archers, not nerf them. Removing jump-shots should work majorly towards that goal.

I don't get why people are voting for the 1-2 level of shield, we shouldn't make everyone in the mod a default shielder just because of one class. A better solution is to slightly improve the durability of the 0 skill shield.

Durability maybe, but not the area it covers. As it is, it blocks direct hits, but lets you shoot past it. That's the downside of a free shield.

Seems unfair, shielder is already a strong class vs archer, cav and inf. Seems better to focus on changes to the archer class itself rather than messing with other classes to fight archers.

In order to help deal with archers stacking on 1 team, could you buff the default archer class perhaps? Instead of players having to leave the server and rejoin on their archer character (which can be a hassle) in order to deal with enemy archers, they could instead just play the default archer for a few rounds until the archer amount on both teams even out. Maybe they could be equipped with a Strong Bow instead of an Arming Bow? I wouldn't expect many players to be willing to do this and lose out on some gold, but for others it would be nice. 

 

Oh and does anyone know the stats of the Archer class atm?

YES! Don't give us the buffs we deserve give us the buffs we need. I hope with these sets of changes mercs will finally be about killing people with your sword instead of 360 no-scope somebody in the face.
