Moving the flag to the house could solve it yes. I'd give it a shot.

Would be better.
Less buggers behind the wooden gate to stop the flag moving down.

There is a point in using the ways into the house. As a defender the house is an important camping area. As an attacker it's a good place to sneak in behind enemy lines

The reason that the attackers win so much on that map is due to how weak the castle becomes once the gate is open or broken. Most other castles have at least a second line of defence for when the first level is breached, but in the case of that castle once the gate is down it becomes almost impossible to defend.
Also the gate is easy to open by enemies sneaking inside or it is frequently opened by a defender, so I think putting the flag inside the house would make a lot of sense really.

Poor Grunwalder, maybe it's just the archer in me but I really like that map

Definitely the archer talking! Even with my semi-legendary footwork I have no desire to huff it up that hill into a hailstorm of arrows and crossbow bolts.

On a side note, just today I spawned INSIDE the castle at Mahdaar castle as attacker. I spawned about... underneath the stairs going to the wall on the outer yard.

I always liked Motte and Bailey, but the walking distance to the wall is indeed very long for attackers. On the other hand, this gives defenders an opportunity to use cavalry on the open field.

I can try, however that was the first and only time I've spawned there. It was before HH, also.

Cavalry should be banned from siege, so that other hands should be cut away.
They're a waste of team space who don't contribute to the objective at all.

I've spawned in the castle a few times on Mahdaar two or three times in the past, so it definitely does happen sometimes.

What most cavalry do is just head to the enemy spawn and try to kill as many afk and unsuspecting people as possible. I don't see a need for cavalry in most maps but Rudkhan castle for example is actually a good map to have cavalry in because of where the flag is situated, there's a lot of space for cavalry to maneuver and actually help their teammates out in either defending or attacking the castle.

, in the army now woo o o

That's exactly why cavalry should not be there, it'll just become a circlefest full of horses and lances and any infantry stupid enough to try to go to the flag will die, horribly, multiple times.

Cavalry? Help infantry?
I don't know about you, but every time I have seen a horseman trying to do that, it has caused the gruesome death of his teammates in one way or other, if not lancing their asses, then just being in the fucking way or blocking the view of the infantry. I would have no cavalry in sieges at all, if I could decide.

Cavalry doesn't make a lot of sense anyways, both in terms of realism and gameplay. They are just walking wiggly bump monsters, because there is no space for anything other than derpy circle maneuvers and bumpy loligagging in tight areas. Looking at how the captain on siege is quite often a cavalry player, we can be almost certain about what cavalry on siege is spending its time with (a hint it doesn't involve staying anywhere near a flag, be it as a defender or attacker).

As I've stated numerous times, cavalry as it is, is broken to the bone.
